Julia Lundman grew up on military bases all over the United States, Germany and West Point as a military kid. She studied art history and fine art at Elmhurst University in Elmhurst, Illinois and later graduated from the American Academy of Art in downtown Chicago. She was an active member of the Palette and Chisel Art League for many years while a traditional background painter at Calabash Animation. At Calabash, she designed and painted backgrounds for many cereal commercials, composed storyboard color comps, and illustrated covers for General Mills cereal boxes. She designed on two independent short films, "Heads Will Roll" (Dir. Wayne Brejcha) and art direction on "Stubble Trubble" (Dir. Joe Merideth), nominated for an Academy Award in 2000 in the Animated Shorts category.
After moving to San Francisco, she illustrated and art directed at the Learning Company, Pogo/Electronic Arts, Zynga and Lego. At Disney Interactive, she Art Directed mobile game "Kitchen Scramble". Lundman Art Directed three seasons of the animated tv series, “Disney Junior's Whisker Haven Tales with the Palace Pets", (Disney Plus) created and produced at Ghostbot in San Francisco. She also illustrated a Little Golden Book for the Palace Pets.
She is now focusing entirely on painting and showing in galleries across the US.
Her work has been published in Infected by Art, volumes 8, 9, 10 and 11, and Imagine FX magazine.
